In this talk, Dr. Eisenberg not only discusses overall economic conditions including interest rates, GDP growth, inflation and unemployment, but delves more deeply into the agricultural economy. He discusses the prices of farm commodities such as cereals and proteins including beef, chicken, turkey, pork and soybeans. To that end, Eisenberg looks at changing tastes and domestic and foreign food demand, and the importance of ethanol credits. He will also explore input costs such as energy, feed, and farm implements, and farm industry profits before turning his attention to some current issues including weather and water issues. Eisenberg also talks about the rising debate and economics of BGH, GMO foods, antibiotics, free range vs. caged livestock, and grass fed vs. feedlot beef. Lastly, if desired, Elliot can touch on dairy issues, price supports and niche farming.
